Access to Healthcare

This portfolio focuses on decreasing financial barriers, increasing provider availability and enhancing appreciation of the benefits of care, particularly preventive care. Funded projects strengthen the safety net by serving uninsured children, build the capacity of care providers to meet the needs of underserved children and overcome barriers to care through community outreach to underserved families. Autism Access*

Autism Society of North Carolina
Help hospitals and doctors' offices better accommodate patients with autism and help patient families access medical care more easily and more effectively.

Purpose: The nature of autism and a lack of understanding of the disorder in the medical community contribute to barriers to care and to a failure to diagnose medical problems of the 1 in 150 children born with autism.

  • Collaborate with hospitals and doctor's offices to accommodate patients with autism and equip families with tools to make accessing medical care more successful.

Health Access Coalition of the North Carolina Justice Center
Expand children's insurance enrollment and access to care and increase provider and advocate participation in the coalition.

Purpose: Financial barriers prevent many families from accessing the quality health care services available in Wake County.

 

Support education and enrollment efforts for eligible children and policy change advocacy to expand coverage.
