The 2016 Wake County Community Health Assessment creates a picture of Wake County.  For nearly a year, a steering committee of 60 community partners led a process to identify priority areas of need within the county. The recently released full report, or Executive Summary, describes the result of that work.  For the next three years, the four top priority areas that the county will focus on are: health insurance coverage, transportation, access to health services, and mental health and substance abuse.

The process involved collecting and analyzing data while amassing community input from diverse representatives throughout Wake County’s 12 municipalities. The next step toward improving the health and well-being of our communities depends on community input.  In September, residents will be asked to participate in the development of action plans for each of the issues.
