Capacity Building - Latino Initiative

Purpose:
Establish bilingual office support at two practice sites in order to better meet needs of Latino children, improve provider productivity and increase access to care.
How:
- Provide bilingual administrative and clinical support at New Bern Ridge Pediatrics and Southern Wake Family Medicine.
- Increase access to culturally and linguistically appropriate health education materials, health promotion and disease prevention materials.
- Increase capacity to serve Spanish speakers through sign system, forms and telephone conversion.
- Implement staff training in cultural competencies.
Outcome:
- Increase provider visits per day from current 15 to 20.
- Increase number of patients served by 150 first year and by 200 second year.
- Document improved patient satisfaction.
- Decrease no-show rates through improved quality of patient service.
Cost/Term:
$275,000 over two years.
