Dental Outreach and Access Program

Dental health fund and outreach initiative.

Purpose:
Provide uninsured children with access to dental care in private offices of participating dentists.
How:
- Increase size of Dental Health Fund from $16,000 to $56,000.
- Expand dental screenings to all Title 1 second grade students and additional low-income kindergarten children.
- Recruit additional private dentists who will accept referrals.
Outcome:
- Provide comprehensive dental care to 135 uninsured children through contracting dental practices.
- Reduce the increase of emergency dental visits to Wake County Human Services Dental Clinic.
Cost/Term:
$105,200 annually for a three-year period.
