Funded Programs
enrollment grants
Initially, three grants worth over $2 million were made to provide more low-income children with better access to health care through enrollment in Health Check (Medicaid) and North Carolina Health Choice - public health insurance programs for children in households earning less than 200% of the federal poverty level. It was estimated when our first grants were proposed that several thousand of the 160,000 children in Wake County were eligible for this coverage but were not enrolled.

These projects enroll uninsured children who are eligible for public health insurance programs. These projects also provide assistance with the annual reenrollment process for children and encourage the parents of those children to use their insurance benefits for well-child visits and health screenings as recommended by pediatricians. Results are encouraging. More can be done.
