Purpose: Financial barriers prevent many families from accessing the quality health care services available in Wake County.
Support education and enrollment efforts for eligible children and policy change advocacy to expand coverage.
How:
- Pilot a community education program in Wake County;
- Expand Health Access Coalition efforts in Wake County;
- Support existing efforts to expand coverage for uninsured children not eligible for existing programs.
Outcome:
- Community meetings with parents to increase enrollment in existing programs;
- Distribution of up to date information on health access;
- Increased provider and advocate participation in the Health Access Coalition;
- Expanded coverage and access to care for North Carolina children.
Cost/Term: $90,000 over three years. September 2007 - August 2010
