Child- and Family-Centered Health and Assessment Services

Purpose: Consolidate Interact's services and develop a new family-centered model for meeting health and behavioral needs of children and mothers.

How:
  1. Train agency staff in best practices in behavioral treatment for children and family.
  2. Support SAFE Advisory Committee research and development of new treatment program that engages partner agencies.
  3. Develop protocols and coordination with medical provider for on-site screening and health insurance eligibility determination.
  4. Contract with child therapist to provide treatment with mental health and behavioral issues.
  5. Develop and implement programming for mothers and children to understand and manage children's needs.
Outcomes:
  1. Increase physical safety as evidenced by completion of safety and behavior plans and observed behavior improvements.
  2. Improve children's health as evidenced by medical and developmental screening and referral.
  3. Improve mother's health as evidenced by mental health and substance abuse assessment and referral.
  4. Increase understanding of effects of domestic violence and use of positive skills associated with discipline and anger management.
Cost/Term: $359,495 over three years. April 2006-March 2009
