Children's Mental Health Services - Phase I

What: Support for outpatient mental health services for uninsured children.

From: Triangle Family Services

Contact:

Purpose: Offer mental health services and access to medications to low-income uninsured children in Wake County.

How:
  1. Subsidize agency sliding fee scale so that it is affordable to families and does not deter seeking care.
  2. Contract with child psychiatrist for referrals from mental health staff and medication management.
  3. Collaborate with existing Wake County Medical Association program for pharmacy services.
Outcome:
  1. 75 uninsured children will receive mental health and psychiatric services from Triangle Family Services.
  2. Eligible uninsured children will be qualified for public health insurance and receive available county assistance.
  3. Uninsured children will be able to comply with prescriptions for medication.
  4. 70% of children receiving services will show significant improvement in overall functioning.
  5. 90% of families completing recommended sessions will report improvement in functioning and well-being.
Cost/Term: $107,532 annually for a two-year period. October 2003-September 2005
