Community Enhancement Grants

Purpose: The project is intended to increase the capacity of community organizations to implement sustainable physical activity and healthy eating opportunities for underserved children and youth in Wake County.
 
How:
  1. Provide planning or implementation grant funding to six community organizations focused on assessing physical activity and nutrition environments or implementing improvements.
  2. Individualized training and technical assistance plan for each grantee .
  3. Networking and training opportunities for all grantees twice a year.
  4. Identification of local partners to ensure grantees are linked to existing resources and opportunities.
Outcomes:
  1. Increased number of community organizations that create sustainable physical activity and/or healthy eating opportunities for their members or community.
  2. Increased ability of funded organizations to assess, plan, implement, and sustain activities that support physical activity and healthy eating.
  3. Increased number of community organizations that engage in county-wide efforts to promote and support physical activity and healthy eating.
 
Cost/Term: $940,115 over four years. September 2010 – December 2014.
