Life Skills Assets Program - Mental Health for Youth in the Juvenile Justice System

Need/Purpose:
Nine to eighteen year old youth who admit responsibility for a misdemeanor offense have an opportunity for constructive sentencing and involvement in 'skills groups.'
- Expand capacity of ReEntry to involve more youth in Teen Court Skills Groups.
How (activities):
- Contract with skilled facilitators who provide 12 sessions to 14 groups of 5 to 8 qualified youth.
Outcomes:
- Improve conflict resolution, planned decision making and conflict resolution skills as measured by Child Behavior Checklist.
Cost/Term: $60,720 over three years. January 2008 - December 2010
