Project Access for Children - Phase I*

What: Access to medical services for uninsured children.

From: Wake County Medical Society

Purpose: Secure donated physician care, hospital services and medical assistance for uninsured children with medical needs for families with income below 185% of poverty.

How:

  1. Maintain a network of participating sites and volunteer physicians.
  2. Screen and enroll qualified children at primary care sites.
  3. Provide case management and referral for qualified children.

Outcome:

  1. Any qualified child seen at primary care sites can be referred for specialty care.
  2. Hospital services are donated.
  3. Outpatient medications are available.

Cost/Term: $62,000 for a two-year period. January 2003-December 2005
