SouthLight's Integration Project (SIP): Electronic Health Management

Need: Internal quality improvement assessment indicated a number of deficiencies in regards to how client information is collected and shared: 1) checks and balances for billing; 2) follow-up data for state required information; 3) systematic coding of identification for clients; 4) exchange of information within systems for billing, progress notes, follow-up and success of treatment; 5) continuous QI data; and 6) notifications or reminders for counselors.

Purpose: The purpose of this proposal is to build the capacity of SouthLight, Inc. by transitioning to an electronic health management system.

Target Population: 37% of SouthLight operations is dedicated to adolescent and family care. The support requested reflects this percentage of operations.

How:

  1. Create implementation team to coordinate installation efforts with selected vendor.
  2. Implementation and staff training will occur in phases.

Outcomes:

  1. Decrease in wait time for appointments
  2. Increased quality of care by streamlining operations (less time spent on paperwork and more time on counseling)
  3. Decrease in number of unauthorized therapy sessions
  4. Increased capability to transfer client and medical records across divisions
  5. Increased consistency in data collection and capacity to examine client data for QI purposes
  6. Decreased in billing errors and procedures

Cost / Term: $66,864 for one year.
