Summer Food Service Program*

Purpose: Repeat for second year and expand the Summer Food Service Program for children who participate in free and reduced lunch programs during the school year.

How:

  1. Hire a Summer Food Service Coordinator to carry out community education with participating sites, site enrollment, administration and education.
  2. Pay associated salary costs for Culinary Job Training cooks.

Outcomes:

  1. Strengthen the program at 10 existing sites.
  2. Add up to 5 new sites for second year.
  3. Provide meals to a minimum of 1,800 qualified children and push for services to 2,000 children during the summer.

Cost/Term: $58,000 for one year. January 2006-December 2006
