Teen Prescription Fund - Phase I

Purpose:
Ensure that low-income, uninsured, and underinsured youth, age 10-23, have access to medications and lab screenings ordered by Wake Teen physicians.
How:
- Expand assortment of medications available in Wake Teen in-clinic pharmacy.
- Subsidize cost of lab tests for low income and uninsured patients who need testing to determine best course of treatment.
Outcome:
- 80% of low income, uninsured teens treated at Wake Teen will have access to needed medications.
- 65% of low income, uninsured teens treated at Wake Teen will be offered needed diagnostic testing.
- Compliance with recommended treatment will increase due to availability of medications and diagnostic testing.
- Number of follow-up visits will decrease.
Cost/Term:
$34,000 for a two-year period. November 2002-November 2004
