Nonprofit Learning Resources

The Nonprofit Learning Resources catalog includes Triangle-based group learning opportunities related to nonprofit capacity building.  Each listing includes summary information on courses/workshops, topics, frequency, and any associated costs.  These resources provide nonprofit organizations additional avenues to ensure the development and maintenance necessary to fulfill their respective missions.

Online Grant Management System

The John Rex Endowment uses a secure online grant management system for grant applications and the management of awarded grants.  Application materials, grantee reports and other grant deliverables must be submitted using the online system.  For tutorials and assistance with the online system, review the following guidelines and tips.

Terms and Tips for Applicants and Grantees

We have compiled a document, Working Definitions for Applicants and Grantees, of definitions and tips that explain terms used in application forms, grantee report forms, and other materials. Given our recognition that various fields of practice may use terminology differently, in order for all of us to be clear, we outline how we define specific terms.  This document should be used as a reference tool when applying for a grant or submitting a report to the John Rex Endowment.

Using Fiscal Sponsors

The John Rex Endowment sometimes supports projects or organizations that require the use of a fiscal sponsor.  The field recognizes that there are generally two types of fiscal sponsorships, a comprehensive fiscal sponsorship and a pre-approved grant fiscal sponsorship.  The National Network of Fiscal Sponsors (NNFS) has defined and developed guidelines for both types of fiscal sponsorships.  The NNFS guidelines should be used as a reference tool when applying for a grant which includes a fiscal sponsor.

Working with Consultants

The John Rex Endowment values the contributions consultants can make to the capacity building work of organizations. We offer several resources related to this subject.
