The John Rex Endowment Announces New Board Members and Officers

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 28, 2009) - The John Rex Endowment is pleased to announce the selection of new members and officers of its board of directors. New board members include Mr. Steven Lilly, chief financial officer at Triangle Capital Corporation, and Jill Wright, M.D., of Wake Health Services New Bern Ridge Pediatrics. 

Leah Devlin, D.D.S., MPH, visiting professor at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been elected board chair; Wake County Chief District Court Judge Robert Rader will serve as vice-chair; Richard Myers M.D., will continue his role as treasurer, and Orage Quarles III, president and publisher of The News & Observer, will continue to serve as secretary.

“We are fortunate to gain the new perspectives brought by Lilly’s financial expertise and Dr. Wright’s experience as a pediatrician in the public sector,” said Kevin Cain, president and CEO of the John Rex Endowment. “Their commitment to our mission will be invaluable as we continue to support improvements in the health of children and youth in Wake County.”

Ben Bradsher, immediate past board chair, and Jim Walker have completed their terms of service and leadership.
