WakeMed Helps Kids Connect the Dots

New Children's Diabetes Center Creates Cohesive Care

A New Place Just for Kids... That's what all the fuss was about on August 14 during the Open House Celebration at the new location for WakeMed Children's Diabetes & Endocrinology Center. Now, families have one centralized place to turn to when facing the fact that a child has diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Without a well-organized, convenient care plan for pediatric diabetes, kids can get bounced from one place to the next. Worse yet, kids with signs of pre-diabetes may miss the opportunity to take control of their future. Fortunately, the experts at WakeMed have realized that the key to managing or preventing pediatric diabetes is helping kids connect the dots.

The new facility, conveniently located next to the WakeMed Raleigh campus at 2610 New Bern Avenue, allows for consolidated services under the direction of a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist. Kids now receive comprehensive education and treatment all in one location.

The new center and its complimentary programs, including the award-winning, nationally recognized ENERGIZE!, are the result of the innovative work of dedicated individuals at WakeMed supported by more than $1.7 million in grant funding from the John Rex Endowment since 2003.
